Because that's totally not a broken system. You can simply put a red cap on the end of a real gun and then remove it to use it.

I hate the 'It's so the police know it isn't real' Argument. If you are stupid enough to be pointing a gun, real or fake and not put it on the ground when the police tell you to, you deserve to get shot. (Camnator pls don't turn this into a discussion over the police's authority)
