...No. Harry Potter managed to sustain most of the major plot points.
LOTR did not. I don't think people realize how different the characters are in the movies compared to the books. Especially the 3rd movie.

Never picked back up again for the rest of the story. It just kind of "happened" and the two of them pretend to forget all about it immediately afterwards. The part of the book was handled poorly in the movie.
