They are only dolls made to be lifelike for those who can't have babies or have babies who died.
The reason they do not mention it explicitly is because it takes the role play away from it.

Holee shit that explains a lot. I thought some bullshit genetic engineering was going on eith these babies. Thei eyes were terrifyingly huge. Scared the living crap out of me.
