Apart from everything already mentioned, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a stellar game with some great RPG-style gameplay. They've just released the Director's Cut, which I can wholeheartedly recommend!

I used to have fun switching fridges between houses. Not that it would have any effect on gameplay, I just liked the idea that they would walk into the kitchen and find someone else's fridge there... Incidentally, the Director's Cut fixes boss fights big time. I beat Barrett using stealth and hacking without firing a single shot, which was a refreshing change to being blown up for hours on end :P
