Whilst I don't agree with current copyright laws (To say the least) I don't like Piracy either.
The only acceptable grey area for me (Personally) is watching TV shows online via streaming sites a few hours after they air (Game of Thrones for example) and then purchase the DVDs when they are released in the UK.
Put it this way, the Red Wedding aired when Season 2 came out in the UK. If I hadn't watched it online, half of the show would have been spoiled for me in a night of furious tweeting/Facebook posts and threads.

Edited by Brickman274: 12/13/2013 6:32:05 AMIt's sort of like downloading songs illegally and if you like the band/artist enough then you go out and buy the cd or legal mp3 purchase from Amazon or iTunes... More or less what I got from your post, could be right on cue, or way off...
-
Haha yeah that's about right :p A bit like how you can use youtube to listen to music and then buy it yourself later.
-
They're not the same at all. Unless the music in question is leaked and isn't available to buy yet, otherwise there is no justification to illegally download it.
-
Ah, so way off...
The only acceptable grey area for me (Personally) is watching TV shows online via streaming sites a few hours after they air
This isn't actually illegal either. It's illegal for the person who uploaded it, but not for the viewer.
-
Yeah hence the sort of grey area. It's not illegal, but it's not really the right thing to do either.

Edited by JoshBro: 12/13/2013 5:48:43 AMThe way I see it, it it's already there for free why not watch it? It's only stealing if you yourself ripped or downloaded it. Besides I think it's important to support films you actually enjoyed by at least paying the £4 odd ticket price.
-
Yeah, I watch a lot of shows online and the ones I really enjoy (And aren't on netflix lol) I go and buy the DVD sets for to support people making great things. Hell I love Avatar the Last Airbender so much that despite it being on Netflix I went out and bought the 3 DVD box sets and I've imported the Korra Blurays from the USA at considerable wallet destruction <.<
-
Are they actually that good?
-
Yes they are, they might look like a kids show but it's one of the best things I have ever seen. The characters, the animation, the writing are all perfect. I've shown it to everyone in my family and most of my friends and they have all loved it. From grandparents to heavy metal head friends lol. I would really recommend it.
-
>perfect writing >korra Pick one and only one.
-
I was referring to the first show, ATLA. Korra is good but not as good as the original.
-
Okay I'll check it out.

Awesome :D
