I feel like I should get out of the Off-Topic and migrate to the Community forum. At least in there, people act maturely and not their shoe size. My cousin joined Phi Theta Kappa when she was in community college (Which I am a part of now), but when she transferred over to university, she joined Alpha Phi Omega, but wanted to join Delta Delta Delta. As for our friend, who went to CSUEB, he joined Epsilon Theta Psi. As for me, I'm transferring to the UC in this town after next semester, and I have a few guy friends that I met in this college that are part of Kappa Sigma. I'm thinking of joining Kappa Sigma as soon as I get admitted.

I don't understand how people can so blindly hate something. I'm Kappa Sig! Great Fraternity man! haha Biggest tip I could give you is not to make up your mind now. Once Rush week comes, find the house that is the perfect fit for YOU. And Tri-Delts <3<3<3

  • I've seen the Tri Delta girls in the UC here. A lot of them are very attractive, even if they aren't trying to be. I have a few friends dating some of the girls in Tri Delta, and from speaking with them, they're really nice and welcoming. I'll be sure to note that. Honestly, the Greek Life from what I've heard isn't so bad. It isn't overly exaggerated like what they did with Beta House in American Pie, but the pledges can't be as easy as I think. What was a pledge that you had to do before you joined your fraternity?

a pledge? You mean like the task we had to do? When it all boils down the hardest part is time management. You won't be physically injured or striped naked. My first two days as a pledge I was taken to an Island with my pledge brothers and we just did manual labor (turns out a former brother owned the island and was using pledges for free labor haha) and annoying task. Another tip, ALWAYS take the job they ask for volunteers. The job you CHOOSE to do is almost always better than the one they MAKE you do. Example: A brother walked down the stairs from the house with 3 pocket knives and said "Who wants to mow the grass?" I volunteered with two others. We were cutting long grass blades and picking weeds while the rest of my pledge class sat there all smug when a brother walked back out of the house, pointed to me and the other two guys and said "You 3! Give your knives to 3 other people, take off your shows and come watch college football!" Best feeling ever. My friend got liquor hazed pretty bad though. Every house at every school is different.

Yeah, I would say that. I joined Phi Theta Kappa with just the simple task of having a 3.5+ GPA at a community college. It's very surprising to see that not that many people join it, even though they offer great scholarships. Edit: By the way, do you know what the word, "Thirsty" means? My friend says that a lot of people are like that in the UC, and he doesn't tell me what it means.
