I'm starting to think i'll see a post scarcity civilization in my life time - we could do a lot with infinite energy, and that's sort of what we'll be getting with this.

Just imagine a world where we no longer have to pay for energy it would be so damn cheap to get. The amount of money that would be freed up would be insane. The world would make leaps forward with this kind of technology. It would also remove a driving force for conflict.
