Oh man... the Xbox One should have stayed in production for another 6 months. The software is so tedious and non-intuitive right now. Party chat doesn't work 100% of the time. You have to actually back out of your game and launch the friends app to see who's online. There are no voice messages. The in-game chat is horribly choppy. Parties are incredibly confusing, and there's no way to manually invite someone to a game! I could go on. Obviously these are all software issues, which will hopefully be smoothed out and changed over time, but hot damn does the Xbox One feel like a beta product.
Don't even get me started on how broken Battlefield 4 is. Why do all new consoles and games (aside from Nintendo) feel like a public beta test!? It's getting quite old.

Damn, sound like shit. Guess I'll be sticking with the 360. If they change and fix it all let us know.

I can guarantee you they'll fix it. It's just a matter of when. For me, buying the Xbox One was a matter of whether there were games out I wanted to play on it. If it weren't for BF4 (which is barely playable) I wouldn't have gotten one yet. I've heard they have a "spring update" coming, but that could be as far off as May, which would be insane.

Damn man, that's not good to hear. I finally have my Xbone, been playing strictly single player on dead rising 3 thus far and its been a lot of fun. Picked up Battlefield 4 yesterday but haven't had the chance to try it or anything online yet, so I haven't run into these bugs/annoyances you mentioned. I have found it tedious to go to the home page to get to the friends list, i assumed there was a quicker way to do things and I was just lost but I guess not. Unless they expect you to say "Xbox, go to friends" at all times, which would be annoying as shit. I've found it a hassle to track achievements too. When I unlock them I have to go back out to the homepage, then theres a list of them and i have to choose one at a time to select each one to see what I did. Kinda dumb. I kinda dislike the home screen replacing the mini dashboard. But yeah, as you said its all software stuff that should have already been fixed but at least it theoretically easily can be. Hit me up sometime when youre on BF4, I wanna try it out and try out xbl on the xbone.

Yeah man that friends this is mind-bogglingly dumb. I assumed I could at least snap the friends list to the side while I play. NOPE. Hell, just the fact that when you snap something it automatically switches the controller control to it is annoying. If I'm in BF4 and want to use the game DVR (which seems to work 50% of the time, but anyways) to record the last 5 minutes of footage, I literally won't be able to play the game while I do so. I can't just keep playing and say "Snap Game DVR", "end clip", "5 minutes" or anything like that. In fact, if you say "Snap DVR" it freaking reads that as saying "Snap Xbox Video"! I swear man, give me 24 hours with your new product and pay me 10 grand and I'll point out more issues than your entire QA team did in 6 months. It's baffling how bad some of this stuff is.

I've just got finished reading this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-03-frustrated-xbox-one-players-suggest-missing-system-features ...and seeing the 'top feature requests' list on the right, made my jaw hit the floor. Shocking. No other word for it, maybe other than completely incompetent. I think we all knew things were grim, but I didn't know they were this bad. I mean sure, it's all software, and it WILL all be fixed, but my god. £430 for this PoS. I have to say, it makes me happy that the PS4 has more than doubled it in overall sales worldwide, and that's just in the first 2 weeks. I only hope for you guys who've bought it already, that they give you $100 worth of Xbox credits or something, to spend on whatever you like because I guarantee it - there'll be a price drop on this by spring.

Damn. Kinda glad I'm not financially capable of buying an XB1 right now. I don't think I'd have patience for this kind of crap. If MS doesn't "fix" these features by the time I can buy one, then hopefully all of my friends will be fed-up to the point of migrating over to the PS4, and I'll get one of those instead!
