I would agree if we were discussing a theory in the realm of the physical sciences, but from an anthropomorphic perspective, it's general acceptance is an indicator of it's objective importance.

All general-acceptance-of-importance indicates is that the book is generally accepted to be important. The book's received messages strike many critics as profound, and have influenced many subsequent artists and intellectuals. More than this we cannot say "objectively."
