The only people who like Marvel more than DC...
...are the people who don't know jack shit about DC.

1 ReplyAll the really powerful superheroes are lame marysues anyway. The only Superhero protagonists I've ever liked were Iron Man (more as Tony Stark, less as Iron Man), and Batman. Characters like Thor and Superman, for example, are very boring and unrelatable. I mean, look at Superman. When the hell has anyone ever been able to sympathize with him? Writers try to make these heroes seem less lucky because "Oh no! Superman can't save everyone!" So what, am I supposed to be sorry for him because instead of being literally perfect, he's just [i]mostly[/i] perfect? Screw that noise.

You're right. People only tend to like Marvel over DC these days because of the movies, which are more popular due to their general appeal and quantity (Marvel currently produces at least 2 movies a year, whilst DC merely produces 1-2 every 3 years). What really annoys me though, is people explaining that they prefer Marvel because DC has OP characters (they primarily refer to Superman), which is funny because Marvel has way more OP characters (Thor is just as strong as Superman and has no weakness, Hulk has limitless strength and no weaknesses, Silver Surfer has destroyed entire planets, Hyperion is pretty much Superman, Thanos killed the entire Marvel universe ffs).

DC= marysues and edgy... nothing but mary sues and retcons and non-sensical reboots galore. watchmen(read the book, saw the movie): over rated, [b]boring[/b], pseudo-intellectual bullshit that's not even good artistically(if you want good art, hire a Spaniard). Batman: an intellectually and morally confused marysue who's really only good in the non-canon stories like when he kills the joker or has his friend specter show the joker his conscience. most of the time his writers Suuuuuuuuuckk! super-man: a boring as hell, ultimate mary-sue of the highest caliber. marvel at least has Deadpool, who actually tries to be an entertaining mary sue unlike DC's characters.

4 RepliesDC is propped up by the Dark Knight, nothing more. BB was not exceptional and TDKR sucked in a number of ways. Green Latern was awful, MoS wasn't that great. Marvel had Iron Man 1, the first two Spiderman movies (Sony) and the Avengers in the Legendary status. IH and CA were average, Thor was good and the sequel was better.

11 RepliesI think most people who like Marvel more than DC are the ones who have seen the movies, Marvel's are more feel good and campy so they have a larger fanbase, and DC in recent years has taken a more serious approach to it so it really narrows the audience(besides the GL movie but we don't talk about that hear) But there are a bunch of people who read comics who like Marvel more than DC and everyone's entitles to their own opinions.

1 ReplyI know a bit, and I prefer Marvel because I think they have better stories. With the exception of Batman (and only part of the time) DC seems more "classic" comic book stories. Marvel likes to wander a little further into the tall grass.

I dunno, they both have their ups and downs. Personally, I read primarily DC, but there are some things about Marvel (The ultimate universe for example) that are absolutely amazing.

Both have good and bad characters/stories/writers/artists/etc. Just follow the characters you like instead of pigeonholing yourself.
