I would love to play EVE but it sounds very time consuming.

It can be. For example my electronics upgrade V skill is going to take 8 days to train. EVE has very little of instant gratification that modern gamers have come to expect from their games.

I play a dumbed down version of EVE called Galaxy 2 Online. To upgrade my planetary defense takes 2000 hours!!
