Well I can tell you now, 3.33 is completely different NGE....and much more confusing. I COULD tell you why his head went POP, but that would spoil the story...

That makes sense. In 2.0 I was all like, "Wait, 3rd Impact now? Over Rei? What about the chick with the glasses?" Clearly they decided to "take it all of the way out there". I've heard that 3.0 or 3.33... whatever, is set +10 years after 2.0. Which means if Shinji is still an angsty whiny 20-something that still has daddy issues.... well, that'd be stupid. But, I can wait for the dub to get released and be confused and aggravated when I get it.

14 years after 2.0, and the real thing that throws people off about that is that 99% of the time skip is never explained in the movie and what is explained is explained in a very cryptic vague manner. Piecing everything together wont do much until FINAL eventually comes out. Real quick also, 3.0 is the theatrical release of the film, 3.33 is the DVD/BD home video release. FUNimation has scheduled US theatrical screenings of 3.0 in January, so a home video release for the US should be a month or so after.
