That is stupid. Gold trophies are unbalanced as hell. Games like Madden have a shit ton that are easy to get. Other games like the Last of Us or Tales have gold trophies that take dedication.
On a slightly more serious note, this is a pretty sad attempt to bring meaning to trophies.

Eh, not really. I would almost be excited if there was a standard for gold trophies, but there isn't. It seems to be developer choice, kind of like gamerscore amount in an Xbox game, except that is a preset metric. No matter how you add it up in an Xbox Live game, you always get 1000 at retail. The same cannot be said of PS3 games. Xbox Live's reward program that gives you bonuses based on your gamerscore really isn't much better, but at least its cumulative and not a raffle.

It is a short term goal. They should do something that lets you trade trophies for content. Like exclusive content only available for x amount of trophies. No currency involved. Or take a microsoft approach and give a rebate/long term discount of some sort. The more the better. This raffle did not get me excited one bit.

This raffle did not get me excited one bit.[/quote] that i had no idea about (bad MS PR, seriously) previous to Martin's comment. and to tell you the truth, it didnt get me excited either (i dont have any gold trophies to my knowledge, lol) i still think its kinda cool though. they are giving away costumes for cosplays and stuff.
