You could say that during Reach. The community was hugely split. It's so much different this time around though. Literally nobody likes Halo 4, and that's just from looking at chart numbers. It's not that they think Halo 4 is good, but their posting style strongly suggests they're from Waypoint, which is a hugbox that bans any anti-343 and even anti-Halo 4 posts. They also support such a horrid developer, who has only lied. "Oh, don't worry, it feels like Halo." "Oh, don't worry, Elites will be explained as enemies IN THE GAME", "Oh, don't worry, we'll include a campaign Theater", "Oh, don't worry, Spartan Ops will definitely substitute Firefight". In addition, like I said, they make a mockery of what was supposed to replace Bungie.net's Halo forums.

Stop misusing the word literally.

What's wrong with the way I used it? There are LITERALLY like 300 people in the playlists in Halo 4 just a year after launch, and LITERALLY nobody in the Halo community besides initial Reachtards and turbocasuals like Halo 4, which make up somewhere around 1-3% of the previous populous of Halo. Halo 3's Team Slayer playlist used to have hundreds of thousands at one given time. What do you have to say for that?
