How the -blam!- is this convo still going? It should be dead because the only reasonable, rational thing to do is to get your hellspawn vaccinated and because the people chiming that vaccinations are counter productive to natural selection are goddam trolls.

Edited by Der Todesengel: 11/11/2013 6:34:03 PMVaccines are counter productive to natural selection. So are most medicines and scientific advancements. It's fact. - Der

So you are saying that we should all go live in the woods in loincloths and straw huts.
-
Re-reading my post I failed to notice the following words: Woods, Loincloth, Straw and huts. - Der

So explain to me how vaccines retard natural selection in humans? And you said that most scientific advancement is counter productive as well. There are many scientic advancements that help us survive unnaturally. Such as agriculture and modern shelter.
-
I wasn't assigning a moral judgment to my statement. Natural Selection proceeds by the "Survival of the fittest". Whereby the most successful and adaptable survive and have the most offspring, passing their superior genetic code to future generations. Vaccinations allow people who have lesser resistances to survive and procreate when they wouldn't have otherwise. It's as simple as that. - Der
-
And I'll argue that vaccines are an adaption against disease. Just like clothing and shelter and fire are all adaption against the elements.
-
For a society, sure. As far as natural selection goes, no. - Der
-
You say that like the advancement of natural selection is more important than a human life.
-
No, I didn't. You inferred it. - Der

Well I'm hoping that at least half of those in disagreement on here are trolling, but since I know people in real life who don't get vaccinated, some of them are serious. :(

My manager doesn't believe in getting vaccinations and it drives me up the wall. I can't reason with him about it though, he's not that type of person.

So it goes with most of his type.
