Reappropriating (Not that I think that's what West is doing) or ironically using a symbol is pretty damn different from adopting it in earnest.

You do realize Brazil imported the majority of slaves from Africa, right? And was the last one to ban slavery. And that the vast majority of slaves were sold by their kings in Africa.
