because there is no reason to believe that used book/game sales hurts authors/developers. honestly I think you'd have an easier time arguing that used games help developers. if I didn't buy Halo:CE used I probably wouldn't have bought Halo:CE for PC, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo Reach new. I do the same thing with books as well. if I buy a book used and I happen to like it, I'm more likely to buy other books by that author new.

  • Uh, Correlation does not equal Causation you know right? It's very simple to understand. >You buying a book used from someone that is not the Author or Developer, gets that person money and not the people who created it >You buying New means the creator is getting Royalties for their product If you buy a used book and in the future get a new one by the same person or group, that Used Book did not get them any more money on that book, they lost money for that particular copy, and gained money for another book. All it did was influence you to buy from them later on, they still did not make as much for the first book now, but their second copy will do better. That's how it is, you may deny it, but I don't see what there is to fight against or disagree with because that's exactly why CoD continues to exist in the world and sell so much. Because people often buy a lot of it when it comes out, and that tells them to make that type of product again. If no one bought it new when it came out and got it through a thrid-party, their sales would be affected negatively and they would wonder why that happened.

  • They didn't "lose money" because if I didn't buy a used copy I wouldn't have bought ANY copy. Plus they already made money off the initial purchase. and the fact that the used copy did influence my decision to purchase new when later games came out is still important. Those used copies kinda become marketing. And no I don't really know why you're bringing up Correlation doesn't equal Causation, unless you're trying to say I don't know my own motives for purchasing a product.

  • You didn't get my point, sorry but I'm tired of retyping over and over what I'm saying to people, you can read through my other replies to garner a better understanding of what I'm saying, or just drop the argument, I'm done trying.
