He who knows 10,000 things
is this an actual quote from the children's cartoon? because it's really silly and bad-sounding.
English

Well, it's over 9,000.
-
Yes, he actually says it in the episode The Library. I thought it was pretty cool, and it's a reference to his name in Mandarin also.
-
it's like "woah, 10,000, that's like a big number or something." the average english speaker knows something like 15,000 words. although, he is an owl, so i guess that's impressive.
-
I believe he meant 10,000 things as in 10,000 different subjects and all they encompass. But since this was a kids show that could have flew past their head.
I believe he meant 10,000 things as in 10,000 different subjects and all they encompass.
how about "master/sage/scholar of 10,000 subjects/topics/fields" or something that actually implies that then.
-
Because "He Who Knows 10,000 things" is translated in Mandarin Chinese as "Wan Shi Tong". It's in his name.

Unfortunately Google Translate does not translate Mandarin. Also, what's up with no spaces?
