Call me old school but I still use IE. What are the advantages of Firefox and Chrome?

My mother's laptop for instance is so god damned slow in offline tasks and online tasks alike. It doesn't even matter if we have lightning speed internet. Her webpages still take ages to open. Yet on my computer web pages zip open. So it doesn't sound like it's too much faster these browsers.

Go download Chrome or Firefox and compare its speed to Internet Explorer. I'm not talking about the speed in which web pages load. You'll know what I mean, just try them out.

To introduce them to the computer world they would turn away and resume their same old life. That's what it's like for me with browsers other than IE and all mobile devices. For instance I don't have an Iphone, never did, and never want to. I don't know what I'm missing and I don't care.
