Isn't the XboxOne expected to update Live randomly and it could happen while you're playing?

Edited by Verios44: 11/7/2013 6:50:38 AMIts more like the XBL servers will need to be reset constantly to work properly. If you are playing a game that relies on their servers to function, single or MP, then you will get booted. MS could avoid this if they use a cascade and redundancy reboot system which would allow some servers built for overloads to take the network load while the system does its thing. But they dont seem to want to do it that way, favoring the shorter reboot cycle but not the one that would take longer but also keep the network up.

Most all of the information in your post is false.

This system has existed for over a decade. Games like WoW or LoL or any other MMO has a periodic maintenance time where they shut down the servers for an hour or two each week to patch or fix issues.\\ NO BIG DEAL
-
NO BIG DEAL
Yes on PCs, we're talking about CONSOLES.
-
What you cant putdown the controller and not play for one hour? (on most probably wednesday early morning, since thats when most patches go live)
-
If it's in the middle of a multiplayer match, the game you're playing has crappy auto-saves, and some people (people with work and school) don't have much time to play so it'll be a hour wasted for them.
-
The Game would have a built in auto save feature to prevent data loss. Those people that were hoping to play one hour early wednesday morning will have to put up with the lost gaming time, its a small sacrifice
-
Why Wednesday morning? Got updates on Saturday and Sunday. Mostly a day where people don't have work and want to play a game to not think about work and other bs. It's not even an optimal update, they can't play offline they have to wait for MS' bs update for the OS.
-
Wednesday morning is the time least people are playing games worldwide i think, thats just the time almost every pc game has server maintenance. And im talking very early morning, like 5am. You can play offline though, just dont login to xbox live, remember a few months ago when everyone got mad and forced microsoft to make their console offline capable?
-
Yes, but I'm talking about games that they are playing online for. It could be right in the middle of a game unexpected.
-
so? i still dont see a big deal, getting booted from one match once a week isnt the end of the world
-
It isn't but it's pretty bad that that's how it works.
-
its not bad at all
