Lets be fair most PC games need Steam to work anyway so people might not even use steam except to play their game, just like Origin boasted about having 40million users yet everybody moaned at them because they where forced users. (hypocrites much?)
Also I wonder how many people made multiple accounts to try and scam the competitions for the Steam Box.
There is more to the numbers than "Steam is popular".

Edited by lonepaul2441: 10/30/2013 9:02:30 PMMy Supreme Commander 2 and Black ops games will not work without steam and when I went to install them it ended up downloading from steam, when Steam wouldn't work I couldn't play the games. They cannot be the only popular games that do that, disks these days are mostly glorified steam vouchers.

So 2 games equate to >50% of all pc games? I'm sorry paul, I understand where your coming from, and I'm not necessarily trying to fly against it, but that stance alone just doesn't make much sense. They may not be the only popular games to do it (though I personally cannot name another right now, I'm sure other CoD's probably do it though), but I don't think that leaves enough ground to suggest that most pc games require steam.

Older titles won't do it but newer titles will, Call of Duty obviously does it, but again don't forget all the fake accounts people us to try and scam the competitions and holiday sales.
