I didn't play any of the other games, but a few things are unattractive to me:
1: The game is overwhelming. It makes you feel Ike you should know what you're doing, instead of actually telling you what to do. For example, the upgrade system. Sure, it's pretty self-explanatory, but it doesn't make much sense to even have one to begin with. And it doesn't really explain everything, you still need to experiment for your self and figure out how things work.
Another example of this is the combat. It tells you the basics, like dodging and countering, but to really get good, you need to read and practice all the combos in the pause menu. Boring, I know.
2: The combat feels unresponsive and weird. This may be because I'm used to The Amazing Spider-man's combat (which is essentially, whenever spider-sense tingles, prey Y/Triangle to counter) and that Arkham Origins requires you to time your counters, but it still feels weird regardless.
3: Lack of open world gameplay with other characters.
Some one tell my why we couldn't get a non-canon costume for Nightwing? Or Robin, or Deathstroke? The DLC costumes suck ass IMO.
Overall, I haven't gotten very far (I just defeated Deathstroke (which was such a bullshit battle to begin with)) and I sort of enjoy the game, but I have to force myself to play it.

1. If the upgrade system is ANYTHING like AC its not complicated at all and not overwhelming in the least. 2. You are judging the combat based on TASM? Jesus Christ. That game's combat WAS unresponsive and clunky. Git Gud. 3. The world is build for Batman, having Robin (a Batman clone) would be pointless and Catwoman in AC was boring.

Edited by Spvrinna: 10/30/2013 2:30:35 AMWell, aren't you the fanboy?
1. If the upgrade system is ANYTHING like AC its not complicated at all and not overwhelming in the least.
I don't know. Read my post. I didn't play either of this game's predecessors.
2. You are judging the combat based on TASM?
Yes.
Jesus Christ.
Let's leave religion out of this.
That game's combat WAS unresponsive and clunky.
I disagree.
Git Gud.
Aren't you cool? What part of "Never played the game's predecessors" did you not understand? I thought that was a direct sign for "noob".
3. The world is build for Batman, having Robin (a Batman clone) would be pointless and Catwoman in AC was boring.
Built* The world is built for Deathstroke/Nightwing/Robin, too. Like I said, I'm okay with a Batman Reskin, I just don't want to look like a clunky steroid monster (Batman). And that's because no one likes Catwoman.

So all your negative points stem from the fact that you didn't play the previous games in the series? The combat in TASM was AA-lite and not in a good way.
-
Yeah, pretty much. I wasn't being objective at all in my OP, but I knew asshats would assume I'm hating on the game and calling others out, saying its shit. I probably wouldn't have liked any of the other games if they were like this.
-
Ok a question. How would you change this game for the better? I ask because this series is considered by many to be THE quintessential Batman game series (if not superhero series). The predator rooms are fun, the combat is one of the most fluid (if not simplistic) system out there, and it perfectly captures the Batman "feel".
-
I would change the counter technique to only activate when it's needed. For example, press Y only when you see the yellow tingle on the screen to counter. He yellow tingle will only show up when countering is an option, whereas right now it has to be timed perfectly, which isn't always possible when you're mashing the X button.
-
See there's your problem. You don't mash the X button, or at least you don't if you want to get the most out of the combat system. As for your problem with countering I still don't quite understand your issue.
-
My issue is that I don't like the combat system. Like I said, it wasn't meant to be objective in any way. Stop getting rustled because I don't like the game.
-
You are probably the only person on this Earth who doesn't like it. Its easy, its fluid, it FEELS good.
-
That's blatantly untrue.
