So as more a critique of where FPS are headed than anything else..... Is Killzone just CoD set in a Sci-Fi, futuristic universe?
I'm genuinely curious as someone who hasn't played the franchise and has 0% 1st hand knowledge of the games.
- "Human" on "Human" warfare
- Insurgence, rebels, etc
- Big Bad Governments
The graphics look incredible. However the storyline seems like every other shooter. What's the appeal of the franchise?
I ask this because Killzone may be the game I get to "practice" and learn the DS4 on before Destiny is released.

Edited by nao: 10/23/2013 8:09:03 PMPeople who compare Killzone to CoD really have no idea what they're talking about. Killzone is a campaign focused FPS with a solid multiplayer. While CoD is a multiplayer focused FPS with a slapped on campaign (albeit BLOPS 2 actually had a good plot imo). Killzone tends to have an actual story. The plot for Killzone isn't 'kill the Russians cuz they're evil' or 'kill the terrorists cuz they're evil'. Its a lot more grey. There is no real good side. You're not fighiting for freedom or liberty. You're fighiting for your peoples survival and so is your enemy. So you both do some -blam!-ed up shit to beat the other. The story in that trailer didn't look like other shooters to me. The game is about a Cold War. Your side just commited genocide against the other by destroying their planet in an attempt to stop them destroying Earth. So you can understand their hate. There's people fighting for greed or ideology on both sides. and then there's good people tied up in it all trying to get the best outcome. Killzone: Mercenaries [latest killzone game] is the best game on the Vita imo. When its competition is games like Persona 4 Golden and Gravity Rush that's really saying something as those are amazing games that I really like. A lot of people on b.net will say 'lolkillzone'. Trust me they're doing it a disservice.
