That he was, just like Han was second best. What I meant was before he was pulled in by Obi-Wan he had no bone to pick with the Empire, no chip on his shoulder. Even when he fought the Empire, he was on a soul-search. He virtually received his padawan training through his battles with his father. I don't feel he was a rebel by choice, but simply circumstance. I consider Han more a rebel than him.
