Hmm, my first answer was yes because it looks cheap but thinking more about it... nah, i wouldn't mind if my boyfriend had done that, at least that way he would have paid for SOME of the damn meal...

It does look cheap, but I don't think that should be the whole argument against it. I wouldn't want someone to not save money if we were trying out a first date. There's a lot that's still up in the air at that point, and them going all out for something that doesn't work out is a little cruel, the full course payment should come on the 3rd or 4th date after some steady time in-between that. But true.

I totally agree, it's just that a first date shouldn't appear to be a tester, even though it really is,it should appear to be as special as you can make it and trying to save money takes something away from that. The girl isnt to know that you'll start paying for the whole thing if the first one goes well

It shouldn't? It's where you learn about the other person to test if there's anything between you. To call it a Tester seems pretty apt to me, but I'm not saying you shouldn't go into it prepared. Saving some cash doesn't seem so bad if you're picking her up, taking her there, doing all the normal gentlemanly things, then in addition to that paying for the meal, however much you're really spending on it whether discounted or not. I understand what you're saying though.

Yeah, I just meant don't make it APPEAR to be a tester, she just wants a special first date :-)

So hide it well basically, slip the waiter a coupon when she uses the restroom? lol
-
Exactly! Heheh

Cool haha, thanks for the input.
