Might just be a case of perfect timing. They know that this scene will be in the movie, there is a prime and willing College playing a game to use as a backdrop, so they don't have to worry about setting it up in a set or renting out the stadium, and so on. doubt it'll have any major cast members. It may even be a test shoot, who knows.
