CoD doesn't change gameplay. Why should Battlefield make a 180?

I'm not saying they should pull a 180, but at the same time there's no reason why they can't make some more gameplay improvements.

Edited by SkeletonPack: 10/7/2013 1:21:54 PMI'll play devil's advocate and list some improvements: - Reintergration of Commander Mode - Additional player in squad - Perk system completely revamped to reward teamwork - The stupidly named "Levolution" mechanics; both large and small - Additional game modes (Obliteration and Defuse) - Lean functionality - Character momentum feels slightly more sluggish; not like BFBC2, but more so than BF3 - Revamped classes --- Assault can no longer Rambo Revive --- Engineer has PDWs to facilitate close quarters combat --- Support has the XM25 airburst grenade launcher to improve combat effectiveness --- Recon gets the motion ball and C4 back - All kit weapons are now carbines, DMRs, and shotguns - Suppression has been reduced considerably - Consoles finally get 64 players on next-gen, not to mention 60 FPS - LOTS of new guns and attachments - Significantly improved user interface - More customization in general - Frontal knifing and counter-knifing - Most vehicle weapons now have limited ammo - Battle pickups - Consoles get the comm rose That's everything that's off the top of my head.

So in other words everything you listed can be added in an update and a DLC for BF3?
-
If you're going to go that route, technically everything can be added in updates and as DLC. The point of a sequel, on a basic level, is to build off the base of previous games in the series while adding new features and tweaking existing mechanics. What are the differences between Doom and Doom 2? What are the differences between Halo 2 and Halo 3? What are the differences between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy? Minor changes in mechanics with a few new features, to all of them.

Like what? They made snipers more useful now by giving them c4 to start with. RPGs lock onto helicopters when they are designated. And many of the squad mechanics have changed.

And shotguns have been buffed :)
