Wait, so if Iran has a 'Supreme Leader' what's the president for?
(sorry I don't know much about Iranian politics, other then a bit about the exiled Imperial Family)

The Supreme Leader of Iran (has to be a Grand Ayatollah) has all the real power when it comes to foreign policy, military issues and their nuclear program. He also has significant power over domestic issues, but the president also has some power both in domestic and foreign affairs. Essentially, the president is just the head of government not the state.

So sort of like the president is the prime minister and the Supreme Leader is the King?

Pretty much.
