That's what I always hope. And not just for superman. For everyone.
I was disappointed when Batman didn't show up in I Am Legend and school will smith.

Keep in mind that I still think Superman > Batman. And that's not the best ending. The best ending is always to have random T. Rex eat the villain a la Jurassic Park.

Not for an ending, just as a halfway battle. Then Batman can show up at the end and yell "NOOOOOOOO!", because he taught the protagonist valuable lessons in their battle and it brought them closer. Then he fights the T-rex.
