Good for California.
Bad for everyone else who says it's bad and doesn't live in California.

The people who say its bad are the ones that actually understand economics.

Yeah, because keeping minimum wage below the rate of increasing cost of living is totally a great idea and everyone will prosper...
-
It's pretty clear you don't know how these things work. Read through the thread. Also, there's a reason people try to avoid minimum wage jobs. You seem to think minimum wage is the the only option people have. Learn how rationing works. Better yet, learn how capitalism works.

So, in order to not have a minimum wage job, you need some marketable skills and education. How do you propose you do that without having an income?
-
Many people can get that done. There are tons of grants, loans, scholarships, etc to get you into school. The government even gives you money if you're too poor. The military will even pay for literally all of it.

Do they know the minimum cost of living in California? The former minimum wage would NOT keep someone afloat unless they got a minimum of two jobs, which is heavily limited. I've lived in California for 20 years. The minimum wage in here would NOT sustain someone easily. Unless they had two jobs at minimum wage, they wouldn't be able to pay for rent, utilities, food and taxes. Even with the second job, they would barely be able to sustain themselves. I've experienced it already. California needs the boost since the cost of living here is much higher than non-tourist states.

That's not the point. The moral aspect isn't what people are talking about, the problem is that businesses aren't just going to pay their employees more without making some cuts elsewhere to compensate for it. It'll be a lot harder for people to get these low wage jobs, and the supplier side will have a low quantity demanded of workers. It's just a fact of business.

Except, the hiring rate in California is already much lower compared to other states. Will I have to fight more for it? Lol, no. I don't have to fight hard for a job in California. I'm already smart enough to know that pretty much a majority of jobs are in Agriculture. All I need is a bachelor's in Agriculture and I'm guaranteed at job that pays at least $50k/year. People need to stop thinking that Agriculture is only being a farmer. The jobs are abundant in Agriculture, but no one wants to deal with farm animals or crops. It's considered a business that's always hiring because there's always a need for food. I'm still waiting for people to figure that out. But if no one figures it out, well, sucks for them and not for me.

Who needs economics when you got bling, money, and swag?

I don't even know why you would say that.
