If Christians are wrong... Not much, you just lived a life living by what you thought was right
If atheists are wrong... Well ouch... A for effort?
Edit: it's been a while since I've made a sub thread.

Such lol. Very sub. Much thread.
-
I'm dying of laughter!!!! This is such an old thread! I remember when I posted this though. Damn, jimmies were rustled.
-
But what if the Muslims are right? Then all athiests and christians get -blam!-ed. Even worse if it turns out the greeks were right, then Zeus screws all three. Then again, if the viking gods were right, and none of us died in battle...
-
I will never understand why people invoke Pascal's wager and assume there is only a choice between Christianity and Atheism. What if it turns out the Norse mythology is the correct religion? I'm sure Thor would love to smash Christians with Mjolnir for the persecution of pagans back in the sixteenth century.
-
Well technically it would still be smarter (in the interest of self preservation) to pick a belief and have a chance at eternal life than to pick nothing at all.
-
Devote my life to bullshit on the off chance the bullshit I pick turns out to not be bullshit? Yeah nah
-
Many people feel like it enhances their lives.
-
Good for them, but that isn't a reason to invoke Pascal's wager
-
Depends. Pascal's Wager can be taken in two different ways: -you believe in God simply as an insurance policy OR -you believe with all of your being that God exists regardless of not wanting to die and become worm food. In the first case you would be sacrificing a way of life that you may find more enjoyable. In the second case you would be living what you believe is the most fulfilling way to live anyway, so nothing is really lost.
-
Not even going to waste my time with this argument.
-
Smart decision. I don't pick fights unless I know I'm going to win too.
-
Same, but I only pick them if 1) it's a troll I'm determined to beat 2) I know I can win and win within two or three posts 3) I intend on screwing with people
-
>21st century >invoking Pascal's Wager How does it feel to have rested your entire religion on the "vice" of gambling?
-
Not bad actually. I mean that's not why I believe it but if you people choose the other gamble... You know what everyone? Lets play a game....
-
I mean that's not why I believe it
Then post why you believe it.
-
What time is it for you right now? It's 5 after 2 am for me and I'd like to go to bed now. In short I believe because I just do. I'm convinced that we have a purpose, that everything I see around me has an artist, that thinking that this is it is pretty near sighted, and there's been too much stuff in general to say otherwise.

Edited by die wily: 9/25/2013 5:40:50 AMor they could both be wrong and anyone who enjoys bananas gets tortured forever
-
Edited by Combat Boots: 9/25/2013 5:45:30 AMWhy do you assume being stupid will solve anything. Christianity looks to explain things in, what our purpose is here, how we should treat others, and other philosophical ways of thinking. You're idea doesn't seek to explain anything but make fun of both sides. Any way ill stop taking you seriously now.
fruit cake
-
Edited by die wily: 9/25/2013 5:49:59 AMmy point is that we have as much of a basis to claim that there is a banana-hating afterlife system as we do a pro-christian afterlife system or a pro-aztec afterlife system.

I wish I had the energy to go in circles with a guy on the Internet but its 2:00 am, I'm dead tired, and I won't change your mind anyway. If you want proof, go looking for it because its there. Night
-
1. i'm wise to the whole "i'm tired" excuse thing 2. i have not been dismissive of anything you've written 3. show me the proof that you're talking about, because i (and a ton of others) want to see it and can't find it
-
1) thanks for understanding 2) + 3) refer to my post you just replied to.
-
He meant your excuse was BS.
-
