What yall have are a King and Queen. That's why you have gun control. We don't bow to royalty, therefore we're more evolved :)

Instead you bow to a president who effectively takes the place of a king/Queen and they have far more power than the British Monarch with no way to take down other than an armed revolt. While in the mean time the Monarch has little power (That is used anyway) and Parliament can get rid of the Monarch and Vise-Versa. Clearly we are more evolved, heck we have a health system that doesn't discriminate because of how much money is in your wallet at the time of you getting the flu unlike the leader of the 3rd world which can be compared with 3rd world nations in things like Education.

Because the Queen has measurable power. I don't consider myself a monarchist - I just find this criticism really petty.

It's actually a good example of how they are totally backwards. Monarchy with no power that they waste billions a year in public money to pretend are their celebrities. The French did it right when they "evolved" they lopped off the heads of their oppressors.

Jesus. The monarchy brings more money than it requires. Although, getting rid of them wouldn't be at all painful - the point is still invalid.

Actually it would be painful, it would increase our taxes. Not by a lot, but it still would.

I have a major issue with that video. It only considers salary in our expenses, and is very vague in terms of tourism. We spend a lot, lot more on things like security and functions for the Royal Family than we do in wages.

Did you miss the fact that Government earns £160 million every year from the royal family?

No. I'm saying that's wrong because it fails to acknowledge the expenses outside of royal salary.

They pay for their event's the public pays the security who we pay anyway.

So? The point is that the value of the monarchy is really kind of negligible. All it serves is a sort of traditional conservatism embedded in British culture. Come to think of it - we should get rid of the monarchy.

We have more to lose than gain from getting rid of the Monarch, they do a lot of work for the country for example, every Monarchy in Europe is related somehow to each other. That's an incredible bond to have between your nations and sure fire way to stay allies, for example the invasion of Norway in WW2 had the Monarch flee to the UK. Since the UK protected the Norwegian Monarch every single year the King/Queen hand picks a tree and sends it to the UK at Christmas to put up in Trafalgar Square on behalf of them and the people of Norway as a thank you. The Monarchy also keeps the ties between Britain and the other 15 commonwealth nations who accept her as the head of state strong. At the current Monarch is by far the most respected person alive, I mean come on the Olympic james bond video I don't see any head of state/PM/President ever doing and never did before that moment. She is a classy lady and everybody likes Will and Kate which drives our fashion industry and tourism by extent. Get rid of them and you lost all that revenue. Getting rid of the Monarch would be like cutting off your arm, it's more beneficial to keep it.
