It's activity that has fallen across the board. I agree with you that there is a problem with groups but it's disingenuous to suggest that the addition of moderation tools and titles is going to fix the problem. Repeating this demand (or the many different variants of it) ad nauseam, as though groups would be fixed if the old tools were simply reimplemented, ignores the larger picture entirely. Clearly something detrimental occurred with the rollout of the now nine months old update; (it may have been something Bungie did directly - something related to the layout, interface, or features; or perhaps the update just coincided with a specific age group or generation of members getting burned out and there's really very little that can be done to address that) we should work towards identifying what that was.

  • I agree. Moderation tools and titles probably won't fix the problem itself, but it would be a good place to start. Not only would it benefit groups, but I believed it'd act as a symbol to show Bungie hasn't given up on some of its community. Besides the implantation of these features, I believe other things should be done to improve the website as a whole. But, right now, I just want the features that were present before the update, the same ones that many of us have been asking of which to make a return for months.

  • I get the feeling that there's a push for these specific features because they are the most visible representation of what was lost in the update, not because that they will fix any type of problem. If and when these features are reimplemented and we begin to realize over the next few weeks that they did nothing to fix the problems with private groups, what then? Do we have an actual, serious, conversation about the topic or do we move on to another issue entirely lacking in content and try to make that into the magic pill which will fix all of our problems?

I don't want to lose what we were for the worst. I wanted to keep and build upon what we had, the system that worked rather than scrap everything for a layout that discourages actual discussion and divides the community. Do I know if bring these features back will help to solve our problems? No, I don't. No one does. Bnet is sorta in a state of limbo right now. I don't know what they're trying to make it to be, a social network, a forum, something else... whatever it is, according to a large majority, it's not working. Maybe it's not meant for us, maybe it's meant for the newer generation of bnetters, maybe we're meant to tough it out, secede and move on or something. You know what the especially maddening part is, besides me rambling on like an idiot right now? We've heard nearly nothing over the course of the last nine months. DeeJ and the gang have dropped by every now and then, but every time it's the same story. "Soon" "The mute system is best, trust us guys" "It just takes time to get used to it" "We're working hard" That's the thing; there's been no conversations between the community and the designers on how to improve the site. Yes, we've given feedback, they said they've been listening. But who (and what) are they listening to, and for how long? Are they even listening, or are they just telling us they are to give us some sort of illusion of control? Yeah, the features aren't going to solve all of our problems (I can't even tell you if it will solve any, as I'm not a future teller), but like I said before, it'd be better than the nothing they've given us for nine months. Maybe a bit of familiarity, comfort, would do us best right now.

  • Fair enough. This
That's the thing; there's been no conversations between the community and the designers on how to improve the site. Yes, we've given feedback, they said they've been listening. But who (and what) are they listening to, and for how long? Are they even listening, or are they just telling us they are to give us some sort of illusion of control?
is important and I agree. Without the people who are running this site involved in the conversation, we aren't going to get anywhere. Most of their input has been trite references to users not using features properly. That isn't going to cut it. Telling users that they listen to their input is an important first step (if it is indeed occurring and isn't just lip service), but right now we are bouncing ideas off of a wall. We need people who have access to the numbers and metrics discussing what they think the problems are (even if that includes no problems - a conclusion I would disagree with) and how they can be solved as well as responding to threads like these and giving their perspective.
