I wouldn't call it "sexist" but it looks like a really stupid feature.

True that, but the fact that White Knights (see vid above) are bashing the game and the developer because of Gigolo Mode is kind of pissing me off.

i don't think it's just that, I heard the game was pretty mediocre in general.

Well, that could be the case. However, I believe many people were expecting something as good as Devil May Cry or Bayonnetta(not sure if I so spelled that right). Unfortunately, it seems that the game didn't live up to their expectations and so they gave it low ratings.
