>Atheists feel persecuted, whine about it on forums

>Cliche voice of reason "Choose to believe what you want."

I think atheists feel safer online voicing their opinion because in the real world, they can be cut off from their family, kicked out of their houses, fired from their jobs, or even beaten, raped, and killed in some parts of the world. It's one of the few outlets they have that rarely results in some tangible consequence. Meanwhile, Christians and other members of major faiths have no problem publicly claiming that they feel persecuted because they can't get their way on everything.
