At this point, the War on Terror has degraded to Sunnis' and Shias' car bombing each other, with the odd US Hellfire strike thrown in. The threat of large scale domestic attacks on the US has declined considerably, since terrorist groups like Hamas and Al-Qaeda are more interested in duking it out with each other in Syria.
I can't call either side "good". Basically, what the Sunnis' and Shia's are doing to each other is the same as what the Catholics and Protestants were doing to each other 400 years ago, only now with AKs, C4, and RPGs. Minimizing civilian casualties are of no concern to either side.
Hamas and Al-Qaeda are more interested in duking it out with each other in Syria.
Small correction here: Hamas and al-Qaeda aren't fighting each other in Syria, or anywhere. Also, al-Qaeda has always been more interested in focusing more on the "near enemy" than the "far enemy".

Sorry, it's Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda that are on opposite sides in Syria. Too many nutbars, it's hard to keep track.

Haha understandable.
