If I'm walking down the street and bump into someone by accident, I won't go to jail for assault. Andassault doesn't require contact, you can assault somemone by walking up to their house with a gun saying you will shoot them, but never touch them.

Accidentally bumping into someone won't cause harm, and what you're describing is not assault there, it's a potentially lethal threat.
