For something that can play most games (not on ultra) will run you about 600$+.The initial buy in for PC is more expensive but the amount of money you save on games is unbelievable with Steam GoG and the Humble bundles.

Oh yeah, I saved a ton on Steam Summer Sales lol. My laptop runs most games fairly well on mid to low settings for the games I'm playing right now. Will a $600 budget get me to higher settings? As I'd love to get the desktop if it can get me higher quality than my laptop, otherwise I could just stick with my laptop and buy the PS4 first. Not getting to ultra is fine, though.

It depends on what you think you'll be using more, most of the new games coming out are multi-platform. So, you may consider waiting to get your PS4 until later when some more exclusives come out and they work out the inevitable launch bugs/crashes.

Launch issues are pretty much the main reason why I'm focusing on my PC first. I'm trying to keep from getting too excited for all these new toys and need to be distracted from buying on launch day lol. Definitely want them both, though.
