You must be in middle school or else you would know most textbooks have a shit ton of problems and to copy all of them would take a great deal of time/effort.
I would imagine it is still a good 200-1000 pages. That still takes a lot of time to do for something that might not be worth it. If he really needs the answers he can just go to his professors or TAs. Then most math textbooks have the odd answers in the back of the book anyway along with most college level math textbooks have a solutions manual. Whether he keeps it or not really shouldn't be an issue.
It isn't really cheating since the answers should be available to him anyway through the professor. Really copying the answers would only negatively affect him and could potentially cause him to fail.
I agree, but from the sounds of it the OP is running out of time. If he can return it or trade it in before classes start he should do that, but if he can't I doubt there would be an issue. For the most part if he can't he should see what his professor can do for him since it isn't really his fault Amazon screwed up and he doesn't have enough money to buy the student version.
