You had to play it in 2009/2010 to get why. Coming from COD 4/WAW so many things were new and cool in MW2. A few I can think of are multiple attachments on your weapon (Bling Pro), custom killstreaks (Where before it was only UAV/Airstrike/Helicopter or Recon Plane/Artillery/Dogs, now we had things like the AC130, Harriers, Care Packages, Tactical Nuke, etc...), new attachments like the thermal scope, underslung shotgun, and the suppressor for snipers/lmgs, and the memorable campaign (Ill never forget the white house run to the roof at the end of the ranger missions or Shepards betrayal and killing of Ghost and Roach).
In my opinion anyway its the last time a COD title had some serious innovation compared to its predecessors.
You had to play it in 2009/2010 to get why.
I did. I couldn't even stop hearing about it. And whenever I was vocal about my negative thoughts towards it I was shut down. In a way, today's constant hate for CoD is sort of satisfying to me (but overboard all the same :/).

Edited by HUNTERxKILLER: 8/18/2013 7:05:45 PMIt gets the real hate now because they've been riding on Cod 4/MW2's success ever since with little in the way of change. Re-skinned guns, new maps, and maybe a new perk or two is the only thing you can look forward to. Looking at the Ghosts reveal as a cod veteran (started with COD 2), its shocking to see how many assets they copy/paste from previous titles (character and weapon animations, gun sounds, etc...). I mean just for an example the L115 sniper in ghosts uses the exact same reload animation as the L118A in MW3, and uses the same firing sound that was used in the M21 in COD 4, the M21 EBR in MW2, and the MK14 in MW3. I mean seriously where is the innovation there? Its truly just copy/paste.
