The campaign was awesome but short, that's not a bad thing. Some campaigns have too much padding so I'm glad that's not the case.

Disagreed, though I guess that's up to subjectivity. My point still stands. Even if the campaign was awesome but short, there are many others considered awesome but long. Why is MW2 placed above them?

Because it was awesomer? Not than all long games, certainly not games like Assassin's Creed II, probably Skyrim though I never fancied that, or possibly BioShock Infinite (bit overrated but still a great game). I thought it was the best Call of Duty campaign ever. I mean Black Ops II had dynamic storyline, and Black Ops 1 had psychological aspects and quite a unique storyline for a military shooter, but MW2 was just so cinematic and violent it was quite fresh at the time even compared to legendary Modern Warfare 1 where it was the first time your main character dies on you like that. Modern Warfare 2 refined that then Modern Warfare 3 kinda shat on that other than the last level which was awesome. Quite a few plot twists too. I hoped they'd make something similar to that in Hollywood but they did even better with Olympus Has Fallen and probably also Whitehouse Down which looks lighter than Olympus Has Fallen which was dark, heavy and morally ambiguous.
Because it was awesomer?
That's not my point. Everyone will have their own subjective interpretation of the quality of the campaign. But from an objective standpoint, what makes MW2 deserving of its praise? The game offered nothing that hadn't been done before (and better, IMO, though that's subjective once again), and just lacked in terms of content in general.
where it was the first time your main character dies on you like that
This may also be considered structurally bad writing by many, though I suppose CoD's methodology of multiple observers and main protagonists allows the game to surpass the classification.

Oh yeah? Well I liked it anyway and the plot twists were unforeseeable and awesome.
