Given that people are dead and dying over the issue because children and man-children can't be civil online? No, I don't think that media is making social media out to be worse than it is.

That doesn't stop it. That just stops them from seeing it. And then they have to go back to school the next day.

Exactly. They don't see it anymore. So what's the problem?

It's still happening. And there's no block button for real life. It'll continue to stew online, hanging around you as a person like a cloud, keeping people away and destroying current and potential relationships. Also, a question: Why is the only solution for people to just block it? Why is going straight to the troublemakers and making them stop not an option? Why make the innocent victims here jump through hoops?
