343i could add Elites in multiplayer and keep it canon at the same time.
What if Elites and the Arbiter are along for the ride on the Infinity in the next Halo?

In the upcoming comic, Halo: Escalation (set after Halo 4), the Arbiter is being ferried around on the Infinity to make peace with the Brutes. It could well be made canonical for multiplayer, but I think I'd rather just have Halo 5's multiplayer not be connected to the fiction as much.

Or they could just can the idea that multiplayer is part of the storyline and let us get on with it. Do any of us actually feel that multiplayer is part of the storyline? No. Get rid of the stupid storyline based multiplayer and just get back to being a good multiplayer.
