While I find Guild Wars 2 combat to be a lot more rewarding, its questing system, or lack thereof is what ruins the experience for me. It was a novel idea but poorly executed.

  • Getting given a quest then getting the reward upon completing without going back to the guy is bad? Random NPC's running up to you for help for an event or the stumbling onto quests is bad?

  • No, it is actually very cool. If Guild Wars 2 did that it would be the greatest MMO ever. I played 30 levels of Guild Wars 2 on the Warrior class. As I said the Combat was really fresh, and really added some challenge that most MMO's are missing. The only problem was that there wasn't enough to do. There is normally only one event in one area, not including special events. These events normally respawn every 5 minutes. I spent most of my time standing around waiting for the event to restart, and for the BPC to "run up and ask me for help." This is not fun. I don't want to play the same escort mission 10 times just so I can be a high enough level to move on to the next area. Well you might say, "What about the story missions, those are a source of experience." While this is true, the level jump from mission to mission is ridiculous, and forces you to grind the same event for hours if you have any hope to move on. The combat doesn't give you enough experience to make you want to just go out and kill things. While the customization is very good, I never really was able to put myself into my character because of the terrible story. This doesn't make it a bad game. Guild Wars 2 is great by many accounts. It just doesn't live up to the expectations I had for it. I held my expectations higher for it thab WoW, and was let down. With that said, I prefer GW2 over WoW, even though quite frankly, I have been playing alot of Neverwinter and Firefall of the late.
