Any game that features time traveling/alt realities is already on a slippery slope for me. The fact that the game pretty much INVALIDATED the first two titles pissed me off so much that I decided not to even both with Infinite. Ive watched enough gameplay (I know) to see that its nothing special. Granted the first one was nothing special in regards to gameplay either, but unlike Infinite it had a VERY compelling story/lore/setting. Columbia never did it for me aesthetically in the first place and that coupled with some bullshit "it was all an alternate reality!!!" ending turned me off of buying it. This new DLC intrigues me though. If it turns out to be a self contained Rapture story I might be inclined to pick up the GOTY version that will inevitably come out. Lastly I find it funny that during the years/months leading up to Infinite when Levine and others tried to get as far away from Rapture as possible with crap like, "Bioshock is more than just Rapture". the FIRST story DLC is based (seemingly) completely in Rapture. Why? Is it because they KNEW that people liked that setting/story/lore better than Columbia?
No, it's because they're done with exploring Columbia.
That said, there was rumour that the story DLC would feature Songbird somehow, and that it would 'continue your adventures in Columbia', or words to similar effect. Looks like neither...
As for Bio1's gameplay not being anything special, the sheer wealth of choice on offer to the player was incredible, from weapons, upgrades, ammo variants, Plasmids, to hacking security, setting traps with tripwires and proximity mines, using a Big Daddy as your guard dog, using Security Bullseye... BioShock and its (immediate) sequel are quite possibly the richest game in terms of combat options I've ever played.
Oh, and this?

Presumably because they wanted to throw everyone off the scent.
Not at all. I just felt like the entirety of Infinite was a massive disappointment in nearly every regard. Less interesting gameplay, characters, setting, story, lore, atmosphere, ENDING. People can shit on Bioshock 2 all they want but its still MILES above Infinite in nearly every respect.
