Comic book nerds, a moment of your time please.

So is Sabretooth (the guy who looked like a lion in the first Xmen film) really Wolverine's brother like it says in Xmen Origins: Wolverine, or did they just make that story up for the sake of the film?

    • They made it up for the film. In the comics they are rivals, and did work together at various points in the past, but no blood relation. Interesting note: Sabretooth makes a point to show up on Wolverine's birthday each year with the goal of killing him.

    • The best thing about Logan is that he's Canadian.

        • Okay, here goes. In Wolverine Origins, it is hinted that Logan and "Dog" (Possibly Sabretooth) have the same father. The alcoholic groundskeeper who resembles the adult Wolverine we all know. Now if Dog is in fact Sabretooth, this means they are brothers. However we do know that Sabretooths son is man that pushes the Friends of Humanity movement against mutants. He has no powers, and his mother is in fact Mystique, way to go! Later it was revealed that Sabretooth and Dog are in fact NOT the same person. In the film Wolverine X-Men Origins, them being brothers and life long war buddies was all Hollywood bull. The two didn't meet until around Vietnam.

          • The xmen1 sabre tooth was meant to be the normal sabre tooth but in xmen origins wolverine they forgot they had already showed sabre tooth and said he was Logan's brother so it's easier to think there's two sabre tooths and and my iPad auto correct keeps splitting sabretooth apart and it's really annoying

          • They arent really brothers, but their birthday is on the same day. They visit one another to fight each other on that day. There's a comic that focuses on their relationship. When I remember the name of the graphic novel, I'll let you know.

          • The first film was originally meant to be sabretooth but not his brother because in the comics it's not his brother he looked the same as comic version that was to make people happy then in the origins film they made sabretooth his brother so technically the two sabretooths in the different films are not the same person it's easier to think of them as a completely different person but they have the same powers

            • Im pretty sure they made that up. Athough my knowlege of the Xmen was limited to back in 99 (I think) when Wolverine lost his adamantium.

It's hinted at that they are half-brothers in the Wolverine Origins series, but nothing solid is presented. His half-brother being Dog Logan bears more than a little resemblance to Sabertooth, and some of his... Less than admirable attributes.

              • Yeah, it was made up for the film, so was his entire skeleton being adamantium, it's just his claws. They did get the whole plot point point about them being civil war vets right though.

                    • Pretty sure that was made up for the film. Sabretooth is meant to be a sort of shadow archetype for Logan, but they're not related. (And, at first, they weren't connected at all and appeared in completely different comics).

                    • They are metaphorical brothers, as in they have been longtime friends, since they barely age, and have known each other for ages.

                    • In origins they're more like best friends who become mortal enemies. I think that being Wolverines brother is more likely.
