Humans are an amalgam of various possible attributes. It is the circumstances of a situation or society which fosters how prevalent traits are.
I think the danger of capital punishment is people having nothing to lose. Say you make -blam!- a capital crime, the rapist could murder the victim as a sort of precaution. I think it, if used at all, should be reserved for multiple murdered and people who are psychologically violent.
