Well, changing names for the sake of changing names it kinda stupid in my opinion. Maybe wanted a difference between it and the Mazda 3i? But that wouldn't make sense, the M3 came first. Also, I like the M3 name better, if anything for that M3 GTR in need for speed most wanted.

Yeah M4 just doesn't sound good. Plus it feels like BMW is just throwing away the reputation and heritage calling it a 4 series.
