Except the gameplay does suck, V.A.T.S was terrible along with being overpowered and not how the series used to use it, the story was fucking terrible, and it didn't deserve GOTY.

GTAIV's world lacked a lot in comparison to Fallout 3. Then GTAIV really didn't bring anything new to the table. As for LBP I can see why that could be GoTY, but again I think it comes down to world building. LBP was more like Mario in the linear aspect, but with a new element that isn't all that new since you could do something similar with Halo 3's forge. Then LBP's gameplay really wasn't all that great. All three of them had lackluster stories and all of them had far from amazing gameplay. If anything Fallout 3 had the best world of the 3. If anything LBP beats Fallout 3 in replayability, but not much else. GTAIV it was good, but it was overhyped.
