I don't think there's a possible way for any organic part of the body to last forever, so I'm assuming that we would all theoretically have to have our minds turned into data and loaded into a robotic body. After a while I feel like being a mind in a tin can would get old. Imagine all the things we wouldn't be able to do. I'd much rather die a human than live forever as a robot... No offense to robots. I just like eating food and having emotions and stuff like that that robots are incapable of.

 • Actually, it isn't far off. The only reason we age is because our cells can only make so many perfect replicas of themselves, and over time they begin to break down, and the copies lose more and more of what they originally had. This is why our system begins to break down as we get older. What's funny is, while it is a simple puzzle on the outside, and the problem is known exactly, we lack the technology to fix it. For example, if someone were able to tinker enough with the coding in our DNA, this wouldn't be an issue. Or even using nano technology to aid in repairing our cells. But such things also come with problems. If such a thing were ever discovered, no doubt, it would be abused by the wealthy and powerful. And, assuming it was given to everybody, I'd imagine suicide rates would skyrocket. Imagine being stuck with a shitty job for all eternity, or even simply being depressed.

 •
Imagine being stuck with a shitty job for all eternity, or even simply being depressed.
I'd hope that, given an indefinite time-span, we'd advance beyond our way of life on Earth. And you'd still have entropy and/or galactic heat death spelling a definite end to existence, so people could still "look forward" to that end.

 • That's a mighty long time to wait as a guy who fixes stuff in sewers.

 • I would hope that a race of hyper-intelligent transhumans would be above sending sentients into sewers, or even defecation itself.
